|THE ICON OF ALL FOOTBALL ICONS ~ KICKED OFF BY LEYENDECKER|
A N DKICKING OFF THE REASON
FOR THE SEASON
~ by Absolutely*Kate
It takes an icon to kickoff a season as mighty as the very first game of the very first week of the NFL. The all star artist-illustrator J.C. Leyendecker led the league of brush-strokers in the early 20th century. He shows true form as one memorable picture high kicks a thousand words of sports-broadcasting to be, to you, to me. From sensations of the dashing Arrow Shirt Man to moving minds with war bond posters, moving sports figures to dash down their playing fields, through magazine covers of the golden era ~ The Saturday Evening Post, Colliers and what Scribners was shouting out in penned audibles, all the way to score the "very first super-bowl" -- the endzone blitz that kicked off Kellog's Cornflakes, this first team artist knew the power of vision. His vision influenced Norman Rockwell's. His vision influenced this writer's as well -- in penning the audibles of my welcoming spiel ~
Welcome to ~"ABSOLUTELY BEST NFL PICKS" ~ Well sure, we're going to show you ours -- but it's only fair that you show us yours. That's how the very best picks come to be. And mine have been consistently better than Ditka's perhaps a few games behind Coach Cowher's -- but I'm gettin' there. Oh yeah baby, I'm gettin' there, and settin' my scoreboard high hopes a'sparkin!
TONIGHT?Think about it ~ They're still all hepped up with hype in The Big Easy. Who's the hungrier team comin' to town? Brett's not gonna make it easy in hoopla city. He ain't gonna take plain pain lying down. Nope. He and his driving team are gonna Peterson it up. They've got too much to prove after that last playoff debacle. Bet the ranch out on the limb . . . on the Vikes. (If Pacino's listening, 'with your mother in it'.)
So what do YOU think?
You goin' safe with marchin' in dem Who Dats?
